economic progress.among the things for which theJury Awards Kiftaniiing Pair $5450 in Auto Crash DamagesAn Armstrong County civil court jury has awarded over ¥5,000 in damages to a Kit-tanning couple after approximately seven and a half hours deliberation into an auto accident case Friday.Walter Elash of Orr Ave. received $1849.15 for damages while his wife Gertrude was awarded $3600 for pain and suffering.Prothonotary Fred MeElhinney said that the jury deliberated for an unusually long time on the type of case ascompared to others of a similar nature.In awarding the damages, the jurors found the defendant, Edward Younkins of the Clinton area, guilty of negligence.Younkins had told the jury that his brakes had failed on a hill causing his auto to strike the rear of the car that Mrs. Elash had been driving.Mrs. Elash and two children were in the car at the time of the incident.
