Nadyne Roberts Waters, colored dramatic soprano, who will be presented by the Valley Forge Club in a recital at Memorial Hall next Friday evening, is a Cincinnati girl and the daughter of Martin V. Roberts, the only negro -who ever held an official position in the Cincinnati Postoffice, bdmg head of a large department. Mrs. Waters studied for six years at the New England Conservatory of Music in Boston, winning two scholarships in that time, in voice and language, and has often appeared as the only colored singer on many ambitious programs in Boston, New York, Chicago and Louisville, and the critics are unanimous in their praise of the beautiful quality of her voice, her ease of singing and intelligent rendition of all types of music. The Mtflsic News states she has a truly lovely voice, head tones clear and pure and, although a soprano, possesses warmth and richness that usually characterizes a good contralto . . . a young woman ofrefinement and good stage appearance and prophesies a successful career for her as a concert singer.The National Federation of Music Clubs, in recognition of her undoubted talent, has invited her to sing in the second biennial contest for young artist musicians next June in Boston.
