Mildred K. PtacekELLSWORTH - Mildred K. Ptacek, 83, died Monday, Nov. 15,2010 in Ellsworth. She was born June 13,1927, in Andes, S.D., the daughter of Adlai and Helen(Sejnoha) Hannon.A longtime Ellsworth area resident, she was a registered nurse at Ellsworth County Veterans MemorialHospital for 41 years before her retirement. She was a nursing supervisor in the obstetrics department and third floor. Mildred was very dedicated and took great pride in her nursing, never complaining. Sheloved being a nurse and herpatients loved her back.On June 10,1948, she was united in marriage to Dr. Edward F. Ptacek in Pocatello, Idaho. He preceded her in death Feb. 15, 2008. She was also preceded in death by her son, Erroll, on March 15,1971.Mildred was a member of St. Bernard’s Catholic Church and Altar Society of Ellsworth, Kansas Veterinarians Medical Association Auxiliary and EHU. She was a board member of Ellsworth County Chapter of the Cancer Society and Red Cross, Ellsworth City councilwoman from 1983 to 1993 and past member of Ellsworth Hospice Boakl.
