Mildred K. PtacekELLSWORTH - Mildred K. Ptacek, 83, died Nov 15,2010, in Ellsworth. She was born June 13,1927, in Andes, S.D., to Adlai and Helen (Sejnoha) Hannon. A longtime Ellsworth area resident, she was a registered nurse at Ellsworth County Veterans Memorial Hospital for 41 years before her retirement. She was a nursing supervisor of the Obstetrics dept, and 3rd floor. Mildred was very dedicated and took great pride in her nursing, never complaining. She loved being a nurse and her patients loved her back.She married Dr. Edward E Ptacek, June 10,1948, in Pocatello, Idaho. He preceded her in death on Feb. 15,2008. She was also preceded by a son, Erroll on March 15,1971. Mildred was a member of the St. Bernard’s Catholic Church and Altar Society of Ellsworth, the Kansas Veterinarians Medical Assn. Auxiliary and EHU. She was a board member of the Ellsworth County Chapter of the Cancer Society and of the Red Cross, Ellsworth City Couneilwomanfrom 1983-1993, and past member of Ellsworth Hospice Board.Survivors include: sons, Dr Edward L. Ptacek of Waco, Texas and Dr. Terry E. Ptacek of Pensacola, Fla.; a daughter Jeannette M. Black of Cotton wood Falls; sisters, Viola Hayes of Nampa, Idaho, Josephine Ludwick of Ban-don, Ore., Evelyn Marshall of Casa Grande, Ariz., Lois Middleton of Shepherd, Mont., and Lucille Lake of Salt Lake City Utah; 10 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.Visitation lto 8 p.m. Thursday at Parsons Funeral Home, Ellsworth with a vigil service at 6 p.m. Funeral Mass will be held 10 a.m. Friday Nov 19,2010, at St. Bernard’s Catholic Church, Ellsworth with burial following in the Ellsworth Cemetery.
