migni mjccucu. nui u u c- jiivj ncivc umuuun ner in a«— -» ■■» — — ~-—■ ——r..Morticians Digging It With Folk Rock MusicA local rock and roll group with national ambitions may only be a year old, but already its progress reads like the great American success story.The Morticians, five Albuquerque teen - agcrs who play mostly folk rock with an occasional taste of rhythm and hlues, have traveled some 25,-000 miles throughout the southwest since their birth.And the calendar calls for even more.The group is heBded, appro-priniely enough, by a vocalist named Zack Head, 17, Lead guitarist Sian llirsch, 17. rhythm guitarist Pat Mas-sera, 18, basg guitarist Pets Loomis, 39, and drummer Tnm Lodge, 18, round out the group.Drive HearseThe name of the group is only one part of what seems like a consistent motif of death. The Morticians not only record on the Mortician label, but they publish sheet music for the Headstone Music Co. and tool around in their very own hearse.Three of the Morticians arc students at Manzanu High School here. Drummer Dodge goes to Pius X High School, while Loomis is a LNM junior.10 StatesThe group got its start lardwinter, playing locally at highschool dances and privale parties. Then the first big break, a stint at the Teen Beat Club in Las Vegas, Nev., came about.Since then, the Morticians have played JO si ales andhave set record attendance figures at every one of them.They’ve planning engagements in Phoenix and on the West Coast during the Christmas holidays.Policeman Watches Sky for ObjectsESP ANOLA, Nov. 17 (UPI — Espanola Police Sergeant Nirk Naranjo js keeping his eyes peeled at the night skies these days.Naranjo reported three clusters of blue-whilc unidentified flying objects zipping over the Espangla Valley late Tuesday.lie said he first saw Ihree of the balls of Sight moving at an apparently high altitude. He said they turned to the south and disappeared.Within a few minutes, two remaining clusters of lights appeared and then vanished behind the Sangre dc Crista Mountains.
