Volunteer Service ProgramStarts At County HospitalA volunteer service program for patients at the Sheboygan County Hospitri became a reality Monday as some 30 men and women from Sheboygan County gathered at the hospital for art afternoon program and refreshments with the patients and staff.Monday’s gathering followed an organizational meeting of the group at the Hotel Foestc Friday.The volunteer group, as yet unnamed, will function at the county hospital in the same manner as auxiliaries serving hos-Jpitalsin Sheboygan. Except for volunteer service programs in Milwaukee County and Dane County mental hospitals, which are not considered in the same category because of the size of those institutions, the program here is something new.Wilton Duckworth, executivedirector of the Wisconsin Association for Mental Health, attended Monday’s event and remarked with pleasuic at the immediate response of the patients to the program given for them.He stated that all counties in Wisconsin will watch the progress of the volunteer serviceprogram here and that the work will be a pilot program for the entire state.Mrs. Walter Karow. president of the Sheboygan County Mental Health Association, who has been serving as temporary chairman of the volunteer group until the group chooses permanent officers, stated today that 17 women have joined the group.They are Mrs. Victor Kaiser, Mrs. Ray Regenfuss, Miss Phyllis Wetzel, Mrs. Ruth Bent, Mrs. Reginald Schaffer, Mrs. Sherwood Perry. Mrs. Henry Eigen-dorf, Mrs. Hedi Schuelke, Mrs. Mary Krueger, Mrs. Clarence Zarling, Mrs. Clarence Raatz, Miss Elfneda Roth. Mrs. Arthur Mohr, Mrs. Ella Wagner. Mrs. Edward Zerler. Mrs. William Schlegei, and Mrs. Walter Baumann.
