Extinguish Blaze On Spring Creek Rlt;1.„ Leave Before PeopleCould Thank ThemThree men who were drivingalong the Spring Creek roadabout 10 a. m. yesterday successfully battled a roof fire on the house owned by Wayne Miller at Culler Corners but departed so quickly that no one was able to thank them or learn their names. ; The fire was spotted by Mrs.1 Alice Onglev who was at the house of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. George Miller, about 500 feet down the road. Mrs. Ongley went ito get her father who was at a lease down a side road.I George Miller arrived to find the men busily extinguishing the flames. When he returned after ■getting a ladder, the men, one a jNegro about middle-age and two youths about 20 years old, hadleft the scene.Mr. Miller, who had been a fire*man at one time, said it was asi!•iiiIgood a piece of fire fighting as I ever saw.”The three men had cans of water in their car, indicating that they were working on a “skid job” in the area. When they spotted the fire, they used this water tt fight the fire. One man got into the house through a window and obtained a bucket and some clothes line. With this they formed a bucket brigade. They then doused the flames.The blaze, which may have started from a chimney spark, burned a hole about eight feet square in the roof. Mr. Miller said yesterday afternoon that the roof wras practically ruined and; there w*as considerable water dam-, age. The house is covered by in-,1 surance, he said. jThe building was convened from1 the former Cutler Corners School and is occupied by Mr. and Mrs. Paul Fink who W'ere not at home at the tirne.Meanwhile, George Miller w'ould like to learn the identities of the three men who spotted the danger, wrent busily to w'ork in such a capable manner that the fire w'os contained and Quickly extinguished. Neighbors who came to the scene did not know the trio.
