KEAR5ARGE VETERAN DIESIN PORTLAND, AGED 74PORTLAND, Me., Nov. 8—FrankLavorasalle, 74, a gunfter on theKearsargc at the time she vanquished the Confederate cruiser Alabama; a soldier under Garibaldi in hi3 teens, and many years janitor in the Portland Customhouse, died yesterday.1 He was a picturesque figure in naval uniform in every parade in which the G. A*. R. had participated for many years.Mr. Lavorasalle was born in Palermo, Sicily, and landed in Boston in j 1861. He enlisted in the navy at| the age of 3 0. - He built a unique castle for a home on Peaks Island with very little assistance during his spare time and was an adept as| a carpenter, gardener, Squab raiser j and wax worker.
