Saturday, nov. 7, 1981Mondovi, Arcadia men part of Kingdom of Fiddlers' programALMA — Leonard Finseth of rural Mondovi has been recognized as one of the best American-born fiddlers playing in the Norwegian tradition.He and Herman Rusch of Arcadia, a 96-year-old fiddler, can be seen either visually or musically in a program on traditional music at 7 p.m. Nov. 15 at the Fountain City Auditorium.“A Kingdom of Fiddlers” is a 45-minute audio-visual program that features the sights and sounds of homemade music in rural Wisconsin.The presentation by documentary photographer Lewis Koch and folklorist Phil Martin is the result of more than a year of research in which they traveled across the state to interview nearly 100 elder musicians.Music and oral history will combine with color photography and historical images to paint a picture of Wisconsin’s old-time'fiddlers.The program is free and open to the public and is made possible by a grant from the Wisconsin Humanities Committee.
