A few years ago a lady from our district had to work on the evening of Oct. 31, so put Halloween goody bags in a shopping bag which she hung on her kitchen door knob with instructions for treaters to take one. When she returned there were two goody bags left. How honest is that! When she related this story to a lady from a large city, the city lady declared that in the city the shopping bag and ail would have disappeared with the first visitor.Norman and Joyce Douse travelled to Winnipeg on Oct. 25 where Joyce had a doctor’s appointment at theHSC the next day. Thatevening they had supper with Angie Romano. On Saturday they attended the wedding of Doug Sanders Jr. and Lisa Pippus. Charles and Phoenix Douse and children also attended this wedding.Alice Ludwig went on a two week holiday in Alberta, returning on Oct. 28. She visited with herdaughter Shannon andfriend Esther Laninga of Calgary; Bemice Hotts in Red Deer; Wes and Marilyn Ludwig and family, Kevin and Monique Titanich and family, Owen and Brenda Titanich and family all of Drayton Valley and with Isabel and Janet Titanich in Fort Saskatchewan, AB.The Halloween partyheld at the Community Center on Oct. 28 saw 58 children in all sorts of costumes enjoying games and treats all afternoon. Judges declared the following as best in their age groups.Babies: 1. AleashaLiske (princess), 2. Jacob Dube (lion), 3. Lonica McKinney (clown).1-2 yrs.: 1. Chantelle Curie (clown), 2. Colby Chemeski (fuzzy bee), 3. Harley Cockerill (bumble bee).3-4 yrs.: 1. Kimberley McKenzie (pumpkin), 2. Emma Funk (butterfly),3. Alex Schulz (crocodile).5-6 yrs.: 1. JesseSuidak (scary man), 2. Richel Suidak (clown), 3. Lathan McKinney (dragon).7-8 yrs.: 1. Joseph Suidak (Dracula), 2. Alisha Schulz (car hop girl), 3. Willie Suidak (burglar).9-10 yrs.: 1. Cally Stephanow (rabbit), 2. Whitney Paczkoski (Dorothy from Oz), 3. Tesha Wilson (Minnie Mouse).11-12 yrs.: 1. Brittney Stephanow (ghost), 2.Carson Cockerill (monkey), 3. Melissa Wychopen (devil).Adults: 1. RichardSuidak (monster), 2. Patti Klassen (clown), 3. Deloris Cockerill and Margaret Wilson (Bert and Ernie).After the judging, games were played amidst which draws were made for raffle prizes. McKinney, Savannah Funk; Prairie Mountain Agri - Jenna Ludwig, Coby Cockerill;Wayne Cockerill Melissa Wychopen, Brady Klimchuk; Merry Tents - Brian Cockerill; April Liske - Chanice Wychopen; CK Feedlot -Shayla Ludwig; Ken Stephanow Trucking -Sylvia Nykyforak; Calvin and Gladys Ludwig - Roy Cockerill; Kim and Stacey Cockerill - Barb Myslichuk; Hillsburg Office - Jenna Ludwig; IGA - candies for prizes, Merridale Community Club - door prize - Sidney Mickelson and April Liske - game prizes. Lunch was available forthose who were hungry. Goody bags were then distributed to all the children. We hope all had a great time. Thanks to all donors, organizers, volunteers and other helpers.
