MEMBERS OF THE WINGS Over Jordan gospel group remember the old times when they used to perform Negro spiritual and folk songs to capacity audiences throughout the United States and abroad. They were honored during their fifth annual reunion held Sun., Oct. 31 at the Holy Trinity Baptist Church. The alumni association was organized in 1971 to refocus attention and be remembered as part of the heritage that made the country what it is. The historical group was formed in 1937 to better race relations through .ong. _ sjna the Con_RECEIVES APPLAUSE -Mrs. Grace Spearman Goodman came all the way from Indianapolis, Indiana to play special selections for the Wings Over Jordan reunion. Several church and prominent people helped to make the day a very cherished one. Denver Wilborn was the master of ceremonies; offering was taken by Leelis Wilson; and remarks were made by the vice president of the group, Glen H. Settle. The director is Mrs. Williette Firmbanks Thompson.WAYNE MACK, of radio station WDOK, who was the original announcer for the Wings Over Jordan from 1937 had the pleasure of introducing the alumni.
