ALGONA ERRONEOUSLY GIVEN INDIAN TOWNThe Mason City Globe-Gazette printed a story of an Indian village in Algona Tuesday. The village is located at Altoona, instead of Algona. The story follows: Jim Fowe-shief, Mesquakl© Indian chief, spent three months building the only life-sized' model Indian village in the country, and he now has givenit to Iowa.The 77 year old chieftain used only a knife, an axe and a large copper kettle, to construct a bark winter house large enough for two Indian families, a summer house and all camp accessories.The camp was built on a creek bank on the l’arm property near Algona of Edgar Harlan, state historical curator.Around the camp is a .fence of light boughs and bark strings.
