Halloween ‘Treats9 from Century-Old Steam-powered Pop Corn MachineTrick-or Treaters” got a real surprise (besides plenty of treatsJ when they visited the residence of Dr. R. S. Troutman, 105 E. Florence, Saturday night, as the local veterinarian had cranked-up his steam-powered popcorn machine. And, before the evening was over, more than one-hundred youngsters had stopped-by to take a closer look at the century-old steam-operated machine, which incidentally turned out plenty of hot buttered pop corn and roasted peanuts without a hitch. Dr. Troutman, who said the machine was originally owned by the late Ivan McCord of Malvern, has spent many hours this past summer rejuvenating his old-timmer. When asked what was the most popular feature, he said that the kids really liked the steam whistle, which sounded-off each time the Halloweeners arrived. (0-T Photo)
