Rededication of Lamont Churchrr*Was Impressive/ LAMONT (Special) — The Lamont Methodist church was fav-ored with a perfect autumn 'day lor its rededication services Sunday, October 28. Tbe three services were exceptionally good, and very well attended. Highestwords of appreciation were spokenby many. Mrs. Henry Ward reported 256 having registered, with several not registering. Rev. R. E. Hodgkin, the former pastor,preaehed the 11 o'clock sermon to a very appreciative audience which overflowed the sanctuary. Judy Hofer- and Colette Rouda-busix sang a duet A bounteousbasket dinner was enjoyed In the jchurch parlors.. IThe laity gave a very interesting I two hour program at the after-1 noon service. Mrs. Nellie Sheldon played the prelude. Vivian Slew-art led the choir and the congregation in an inspiring song service. A girls* group brought a message^ in song, Mary Ellen Hodgkin* sang a solo; the 'Frenchhorn T was played by Vera Oel-rich. Mrs. Henry Fowler made comments on four pictures taken of the church during its differ-ents stages of rebuilding.Very interesting talks were given by four who have been members .of the local church 4$ years or more, ^lary Jakwav, age 89, a member 61 years. May Stewart, a member 53 years, Mrs. Annabel le Hesner, a member 50 years, Sophia Adams, a inember 48 years. A letter was read from Julia Millctt. a member 57 years. The? Church has 10 who have been members here for 40 or more years, and 8 who have been i members 50 or more years. Let- I lers were read from Rev. John Atkin. Rev. Paul Pease, Rev. D. V. Butler. Rev. Frank Schepple, Rev. C. CL Winters, and Rev. Arthur Myers, all former pastors.Letters were also read from nonresident members. Mrs. — Frank Burns gave the latest available word on the whereabouts of our 25 service men. The climax of the day came' at the evening service when Bishop Charles W. 1 Brashaies gave the sermon, and j led the congregation in the rededication ritual. His sermon will probably never be forgotten by many.At the service Elaine Kingsland sang The Lord's Prayer, accompanied by her sister, Lorna. The choir under the direction of Mrs. Tom Hotchkiss gave two beautiful anthems. Mrs. R. C. Stewart was the pianist of the day*. At the afternoon service Dr. Herbert Temple commended the local congregation for its achievements. The pastor announced that a donor is purchasing a new outside bulletin board for the tihurch, and that all bills are paid in full. The Aurora congregation will hold | their rededication Sunday. Nov. II. A new blower is being installed in the church furnace this week, and a new electric pump in the parsonage.
