Ray Howard Leads BengalsTo Strong Spot in Big OneBillings — The Helena High cross-country-team finishedrunnerup to a depth-heavy Butte Public team Saturday at Billings in the first State Cross-Country Meet held.Butte ran up a total of 40 points to Helena's 87 on the strength of third, fourth, and fifth finishers.Helena's lone plocer in the top ten was Ray Howard with an eighth place finish.Chuck Stodden of Anaconda won the event with a time of 10:39.8.TcI(The official Class A finish was as follows: 1, Butte Public, 2 Helena, 3 Billings Sr., 4 Great Falls, 5 Billings West, 6 Laurel, 7 Glasgow.A small Class C town, Ash-\land, won the Class B title,placing three in the first five finishers.
