The old Gumbool mine was opened over there.”Finally operation of the mine was abandoned. It was the doom of the old town of Clermont. The miners went to new fields.Not John Keating. He stayed there and cleaned up the mines under a contract with the company.He likes to thdnk of the country as it was when he was a youth.There hadn't been a tree cutaround here. But now they've stripped the timber lands. 'ITte mines are abandoned.
