On with the showBY AMANDA BOSMALeader ReporterWell, it's on with the show, once again Ogopogo is a go*Executive Producer Barry Authors of Barryfilms in London announced Iasi Wednesday that Ogopogo will shoot in Manitoba in mid-August.The project was greenlil a few weeks ago as a Manitoba shoot but was put on hold while producers reviewed the costs and financing plans.The project got hung up when word got out that New Brunswick was offering the film’s backers more money to take the project there.The bottom line is very important to producers, said Carole'Vivier, CEO and film commissioner of Manitoba Sound and Film. It’s a very competitive thing.The Manitoba tax credit program would give the Ogopogo production almost $1.2 million to shoot here.Rumour had it that New Brunswick was prepared to offer upwards of $4 million.But New Brunswick's filmcommissioner said he couldn'tmatch the Manitoba grant money.As a result, the producers have decided to slay here.“We were always happy with the crew and the locations and the wonderful cooperation we were getting from the people of Manitoba, said Authors, who also wrote the script, but we needed to know we were making the best financial decision, we are now confident that is the case.The movie will begin shooting August 21, one week later than originally planned, and finish in mid-October. Preparation will begin immediately.We look forward to getting down to work, making a great movie, and having a good time doing it, said Kim Todd, executive producer at Credo Entertainment.Casting of the star is proceeding and we hope to have some news on that front in a few weeks.”Meanwhile Ogopogo —the main star of the movie- is taking shape at the Hensen Creature Shop in London.The animatronic monster will be shipped to Winnipeg for final assembly and testing. *
