Dora BicentennialMount Dora-The official Bicentennial Committee for the City of Mount Dora has finalized plans for the observance of the nation’s 200th birthday whichincludes a spectacular fireworks display over Lake Dora on the evening, of July 3.An all-day celebration will be held at Gilbert Park on July 3, and on July 4, a marker will be placed at the Time Capsule site at 2 p.m. in Donnelly Park.According to the Committee, the Independence Jubilee which has been held in past years on July 4 will be on July3, so that citizens may observe the day of July4, 1976 by attending churches of their choice.“as our nation was founded on the basis of freedom of religion and the right to worship as one wishes.”Activities on July 3 at Gilbert Park will include concession boothssponsored by variouscivic and social clubs. The Mount Dora Lions Club will offer barbecue chicken dinners to be eaten at die Park or to take out beginning at 4 p.m. The Mount Dora Rotary Club will serve hamburgers, hot dogs and coke from noon till dusk.
