STEEPLECHASE OPENS.About 10,000 People Enjoyed Its Varied Delights, Free, Last Night.REVERE, May 29—There was an immense crowd of natrons at the Revere beach steeplechase at Its opening last night, the number being estimated by manager Pettingill at 10,000. Everything in the line of amusement was free torthe evening, and young people and their elders had a jolly night of it.The enlarged dancing pavilion was too small for the hundreds who wanted to dance, but the concert there was enjoyed by all. As usual, the funny staircase caught the fancy of the crowd, and there was not a moment when scores were not waiting for a chance to try the trick. The horses were patronized by a continuous stream of riders.The feature of the evening w*as a slide down a wire by LJiiven, who made a trip from the peak of the pavilion to the ground, suspended by his teeth.There are many new attractions at the Steeplechase this year, especially in the open space inside the track. Here swings, flying rings, teeter boards, etc, have been provided for the free use of patrons.
