3rd Season Opens Friday At Indian Playground ParkRUSSELLS POINT — Indian Playground Park will open its third season Friday, under its new ownership, Anthony Guilano of N e w Haven Conn., who has already invested over $250,000.00 in new development.The resort, located on Indian Lake, 28 miles south of Lima, is in a five-year program of reconstruction, expansion and beautification.Comprising 25 acres and divided right down the middle by the lake channel, pleasure boats are able to motor through the amusement center and right up to Main Street in this summer community of 50,000 before making a turn.The funland, formerly known as San Juan and Sandy Beach, had its heyday in the 30’s and 40’s during the period of the big bands. Now the huge ballroom in the park has been renamed Mildred’s Malt Shop in keeping with its psychedelic-flashing - strobe - light atmosphere.The itinerary has also changed from Guy Lombardo,Duke Of Windsor Slates Ohio TripCUYAHOGA FALLS, Ohio (AP)—The Duke of Windsor will come hero next Tuesday to take a look at the main plant of the Lawson Milk Co.The duke will be the guest of Nathan Cummings, chairman of the executive committee of Consolidated Foods Corp., owners of the Lawson chain.Harry James and Jimmy Dorsey to such rock ’n-soul groups as The McCoys, The American Breed. The M. C. 5 and the Flea Circus appearing for the Memorial Day weekend.Indian Lake Playground Park will remain open daily and Sundays from 1 p. m. to midnight now through Labor Day. The fun spot features a kiddieland and midway of some 36 rides in all, including a roller coaster, merry-go-round, merry-mixer, dodgem, twister, tilt-a-whirl, jet planes and the all new 50-foot high . . . 200-foot long giant slide.In addition, a new Gay Nineties has been constructed, The Showboat under renovation, a Mystic Castle improved . . . with the entire park taking on new color, shape and design.We’re doing everything possible in programming and in performance to put together one of the finest parks in the country here at Indian Lake,” said Guiliano, “It just doesn’t happen overnight.”Guiliano said that community participation at the park holds priority with musical and entertainment groups throughout the area from Columbus to Dayton, Marion, Findlay, Lima and Van Wert. Special days are also set aside for social, fraternal, church and state groups.The big emphasis is on company picnics for their employes and families. A full schedule is already in effect for plants in a dozen cities. Firms lease out the park with all its facilities for the day of the event while still allowing use by the public. Shelter houses,picnic tables and chairs are provided throughout the amusement center.“The state is putting a lot of money into the lake area development . . . and our part in this big picture is to make Indian Lake the clean, family-type playground park of Ohio.”Guiliano reported that it is expected that Indian Lake Playground Park, which drew over 250,000 people last year, would peak closer to 300,000 this year.
