Amusement enterprises will be reduced this year at two other attractive spots, Riverton Park and Cape Cottage, also. The Riverton shows in the open air theatre will be discontinued, although the Casino will he open for picnic unci dinner parties. Cape Cottage is to be a soldiers' park a,s the casino is to be Hostess House under control of the Woman's War Work Council, a recreation center for soldiers of Fort Williams and other reservations in this artillery district.Both places were developed by the Portland Railroad Company to stimulate Summer trolley car riding. They have grown in popularity the past few years and while both will remain open to the public, less attractive inducements are offered for the Summer.Old Orchard will be the nearest lively Summer resort, according to present prospects, the Gem at Peaks Island being In disuse along with the other two at nearby resorts. These conditions are reminders of the war in an Impressive degree.
