The Bedford Insurance Company's business has assumed a new aspect in this county. Some weeks ago, it will be remembered, Mrs. JosiahH. Charnes, of French Lick township, lost her home by fire, sustaining a loss of $420. She had paid all demands and assessments made upon her by the Bedford Farmer’s Insurance Co., in which she was insured, and the action of the company in respect to the claim has been looked for with a great deal of interest by the many policy holders and their friends in this county. The company has acknowledged the justice of the claim but has not paid over any money, direct, to the claimant. It has, however, turned over to Attorney Harry A. Carnes a lot of 1‘premium notes” on policy holders in the company in this county with the understanding that he is to collect them and out of the proceeds pay his mother’s claim. He has succeeded in collecting something like $200 up to date. There does not seem to be any organized or determined effort to resist the collection of the notes.— Republican.
