Racing Helps FairsMarion Bergeson, who has been selected by Hollywood Park as the track’s famed “Goose Girl” for the 55-day meet opening May 13, is a firm believer in fairs. Miss Martin pointed out this week that the Redwood Acres Fair’s current budget includes $63,-683.00 from a tax on the horse racing industry. Western Fairs Association stated fairs are made self-supporting through use of these funds for operational expenses and payment of cash premiums. The Goose Girl, a 21-year-old Inglewood beauty, is a blue-eyed blond, and a student at the University of Southern California. She will reign over the race track’s beautiful infield park and lagoon.
