GEORGE YENTER HASNARROW ESCAPE♦Wednesday afternoon while Geo.Yenter was on his way to the Geo.« •Elliott farm, the rear end of the truck he was driving was struck by the' 2 o’clock flyer going east. The accidept happened at Maher’s crossing, which is conceded to be one of the most dangerous crossings along the Rock Island Line.Coasting down the hill and around the bend, he did not hear the train until it was upon him. Realizing' his peril, he stepped on the gas, ch * truck lurched forward but the rear end was hit, this being completely demolished. The body of the truck projected out six or eight inches in the rear over the frame and this was the part that came in contact with the flyer. Had the gas failed to work or the train came a secor.d sooner, George says he might not be here to tell us aboa* it.
