In regard to the haunted house, it is situated between this and Saltsburg, or Clarksburg, and is occupied by reputable parties, who were annoyed nightly by a hideous noise, in the room immediately under their bed chamber, where with light they would try to ascertain the cause, butnothing could be seen or heard. The same was the case when they would set a watch; they being courageous parties, they were not scared off, but continued to occupy the house. One night they wrote a note to the ghost, and left paper and pencil for an answer. Their note ran in this wise: ‘‘In the name of the Trinity, (mentioningeach person, in the Trinity,) wht do youwant?” When his ghostship made his nightly visit, and saw the note, he, she or whatever it was, raised the most unearthly noise, louder than the roaring of a lion. The mystery still remains unsolved.
