May 26 is the rain date.The homecoming celebration will take place during Green Spring Days IV at the Green Spring Community Park. Activities begin at 10 a.m.Homecoming celebrations will take place from border to border in the Mountain State this year. Gov. Gaston Caperton proclaimed 1996 as West Virginia Homecoming.Green Spring organizers have contacted former residents now living far and wide. In the letter, the organizers write that “This is the year to return and see the NEW West Virginia. The land that you left is no longer dirt cheap. Land is now $1,000 an acre. Real estate has skvrocketed. Green Spring and Hampshire County are prime locations for the city people of the Washington-Balb-more area. They are not building cabins and hunting camps, but fabulous homes.” ^Green Spring Days IV will include food, music, ball games, children’s games, horse shoe pitching competition, volleyball, bands and dancing.
