Loren K Parman, pastor of the First Presbyterian Church, Seventh and Greene Streets, recently received his master’s degree in divinityfrom Fuller TheologicalSeminary, Pasadena,California.He actually graduated fromFuller in 1958 with the degree ofbachelor of divinity, However, at that time, the school was attempting to be fully accredited and as a result established a strict work load. Afew weeks ago, Rev, Parman received a new diploma to replace the old one The school had notified him that what had been his bachelor’s degree was now considered a master’sdegret.Rev. Parman grew up in Grant City, Missouri, and after high school attended the University of Missouri, graduating in 1949 with a H A in Chemistry He attended Moody Bible Institute’s Missionary Course, completing that in 1954, before enrolling at Fuller.After graduation from seminary, he was ordained while serving a Presbyterian church in northwest Iowa, the Union Township Presbyterian Church, U* Mars After that, he served nearly seven years as pastor of the First Presbyterian Church at Kamrar, Iowa. On Sept I, 1967, he started in Boone.He has served on numerous committees in the North Central Presbytery, and has been a member of that organization since 1961 Some of his positions have been: Chairman ofMinisterial Committee, Chairman of National Missions -Strategy and Survey - Urban Ministry Committee, supervisor, Urban Ministry of Waterloo; Chairman, Building Committee for a new church at the Mesquakie Presbyterian Church (Tama Indian Mission).He is past president of the Boone Ministerial Association;Moderator of the North Central Presbytery, member, Boone County Child Care Board; member, Ixiard of Central Iowa Mental Health Board, Ames.Two years ago he was presidentof that organization. He is also a member of Kiwanis; in January1971 he and an elder of thechurch, the late Walter Hinz, tixk a trip and had personal contact with missionaries intheXocenpich,XocenpichChurchYucatan, at PresbyterianHe will be attending the general assembly of the United Presbyterian Churches in Omaha May 15-23He and his wife Ruth live at 503 S. Story St with their twochildren, David, 13, a student atBoone Junior High, and Diane,II, a student at PageElementary School. Mrs.Parman teaches specialeducation classes mornings atGarfield School
