DRY RUN CLOSES ITS SCHOOL YEAR_Dinner And Athletic Program Sees Curtain RungDown.The lower Dry Run school wrote “finis” to the school year for 1939-31 Friday.Invitations were sent out to par-cnts for the closing day, and the response was gratifying.Three hundred were preseut. A delicious dinner was served.Music was furnished by the school.After dinner the people were entertained by three sockbali games.The boys and girls Just finished a two game series with McDermott grades. The McDermott girls winning in both contest. The first score being 13-8 the second lo-K This Is the first year the Dry Hun girls have played ball.The McDermott boys didn’t fare so well. Tlie Dry ltuu boys winning both contests. First game 11-9, second lb-11. McCall, teacher,* pitched for Dry Run. Long, teacher, pitched for McDermott. The Intone Cutter-* came forward with their reserve in the filth and Dry run in the eighth ; innings. When Dry Run's reserve were put iu they scored eight runs on the McDermott boys and this lead was too much to overcome.The game with Nauvoo was very close and exciting, the score beiug 7-0 in favor of Dry Run. The N’auvoo boys did fine playing. The score was tied in the eighth inning. The Dry Run boys scored one run In the ninth while the Nauvoo boys failedto score.The teachers at Dry Run the past year were: V. C. McCall, principal, 7-8; Jeanette South, fi-6 grades; Mary Crown, 3-4 grades; Mollie Marsh, 2-3 grades; Nolle Smith, first grade.
