There are memories of sports and memories of scars, and sometimes the two combined.Although they each have different plans for the futu e. they all said they want to stay close to home and close to family.Nathan Brungardt is undecided where he wants to attend college, but knows that he’s interested in fire science. Holmes said he plans to attend Garden City Community College and isn’t sure yet what he wants to major in.Becker said he wants to go to GCCC first and major in business, then go to Goodland to study auto mechanics and auto repair. Eventually, he'd like to open his own shop.And Irsik will attend the Hutchinson Community College tire academy next year.The thing they’ll remember most about high school are the sports they were a part of, the four cousins said. Nathan Brungardt played baseball andbasketball. Holmes played baseball. Irsik played football and Becker has been riding motor cross and dirt bikes since grade school. The four also play summer softball.On Saturday, the family will gather in between graduations — Holcomb’s graduation is at 2 p.m. and Garden City's graduation at 7 p.m. - to celebrate the family’s successes.Kenny Brungardt said he doesn’t want to take away from his grandson’s gradua-t ion day.“They all have different goals and different ambitions,” he said.He’s been in the stands at most of their home games and some of their away games, he said, and he hasn’t missed a home baseball game yet.He has eight Kids, 20 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. Many will gather on Saturday to celebrate his birthday and the four graduations.“He’s taught us a lot of things,” Nathan Brungardt said. “You can always expect to see him at whatever sporting events we were a part of. I think it’d be awkward not seeing him behind home plate during baseball games.”
