They retold of their struggles for existense in the pioneer days of many pitched battles with the savages and the wild beasts, of the many bonders in nature that have long since disappeared, of the great trees that it took two men to see the top and required 4 hours to walk around, of the herds of Antelope some with antlers that measured 10 ft. from tip to tip, that roamed the forest in those primitive days lleeing like lightning at the approach of a person, through the woods where the trees were not over two or three feet apart. And so the time passed every minute occupied until at 10:30 the guests all gathered around the festal board to do justice to an elegant spread with the accessories customary in the neighborhood one vieing with the other to see who could best show his or her appreciation of the eiforts of the hostess, but it remained for Theo. The honor of leading the grand march with Mrs. Koch fell to Ed. Schnelker who entered the ball room with the hostess on his arm to the tune of Mendelsohns wedding march, causing a suspicision of envy to creep over the faces of the other gentlemen present which wouldn’t come off until Professor Eggimann executed ! of his difficult feats of jigging ably seconded by Lieutenant Rebber. One member of the club who was notic-ably conspicious by his absence was Wm. Werling whose better half made him stay home and plant potatoes by lantern light so as to get them planted before the moon turned a summer sault. But as Bill doesn’t live in Adams Township no one expected anything better of him and his excuse was deemed sufficient and the club passed seven resolutions of sympatlry in his favor. The meeting adjourneej at 11:30 all wishing Mrs. Koch many more happy years.
