Band swings at promsby Arthur MammenIf you happen to be walking the halls early same morning and hear same cool jazz floating from the band. room, you’ll know that the stage band is practicing for another of its many engagements., The 19 piece band is made up of memtxjrs of the concert band who practice in their spare time before or after school and the all male band with their blue blazers have become a familiar sight ait area high school proms. This spring the “Notables” have played at proms at Orange City, Cherokee, and Lawton-Bronson, and are scheduled to play at the Leeds high school prom on Mdy 20.This year the seven man trumpet section consists of Rich Ziettlow, Dave Dirks, and Randy Berg, seniors; Mark Kehrberg, Junior; and DaveBogenrief, Mike Lee and Gary Early, sophomores.The four trombonists are Rowe Winecoff, and Roger Thoma, seniors; and Kirk Trues-dell, and Vic Rozeboom, juniors.Cliff McMumay, and Darrell Larson, seniors; Dave Reiners, junior; and Steve Collins, and Mark TniesdeU, sophomores, make up the sax section.Greg Larson, string bass, Jim Hauan, drums, and Mark Wilms, piano, finish off the famed and sometimes notorious “notables.”This winter these musicians under the direction of Mr. Joe Brice, competed in the State Stage Band contec* ait Cedar Falls and won the honor of being one of the top three hii school stage bands in the state of Iowa.
