UNITY CLUB ORGANIZED.y| Colored People of Massillonand Canton Hold Meeting.A meeting ot forty-seven colored people of Massillon and Canton was held at the home of Mrs. John G. Allen, in North street, Thursday evening. The object of the affair was to organize a club. Joseph R. Mackey, of Canton, acted as temporary chairman arid opened the meeeting. The following officers were then elected: President, A. E. Jenkins, of Canton; first vice ptesident, L. J. McPherson, of Massillon; second vice president, rs. John G. Allen, of. Massillon; secretary, Charles Walters, of Canton ; assistant secretary, Robert Myers, of Massillon ; reception committee, J. R. Mackey, C. E. Brooks, Charles C. Robinson, John Jackson, Cal Perkins, Justin White, David Hall, F. D. Curtis, Mrs. A. E. Jenkins, Mrs. Harriet McGruder, Mrs. John G. Allen, andthe Misses Almira Earley, Ella Jackson and Isa Robinson. A programme of musical numbers was played by De-Witt Cunningham and James J. Fie ing, of this city.rs. Frances Riley, of the school of j domestic science, of Titusville, Pa.,attended the meeting and gave a valuable and entertaining talk.The club was then given the name of the Unity Club of Massillon and Canton. The Massillon members are Mr. and Mrs. L. J. McPherson, Mr. and Mrs. J. Henry Hood, Mr. and Mrs. C. E. Brooks, Mr. and Mrs. W. Eugene Jones, the Misses Laura B. Atherton and Grace Pinn, and Charles Robinson, Cal Perkins, Robert My-â– jers, Justin White, William Tibbs, De-Witt Cunningham and F. D. Curtis.The club will meet next Thursday evening at the home of the president, A. E. Jenkins, in Canton. It is the hope of the members to improve the social conditions and to promote good feeling among colored people. A hay wagon party will probably be the first social event of the season. I
