'A very amusing performaaee is that of Hector, a re-' markably well-trained dog, which mer-. forms on horseback; jumping over .bare and through hoops whilethe horse is .at a full gallop', almost as well as a human being. Ajax, who has been aptly termed the boneless man, astonished every one, mid gained great applause by his most remarkable contortions, which truly must be seen to be thoroughly, appreciated. The battoute leaping by a large corps of athletes, is very good, some of them even vaulting over as many as five elephants at one time. The acrobatic act, difficult though it is, was well performed by the Mette Brothers, as also was the intricate exercise upon the triple horizontal bars by a very clever corps of gymnasts. Miss Emma Stiekney’s Splendid riding, arid the wonderful control tlmtslie possesses upon; her steed, continues to gain the heartiest applause; immediately upon her retiring from the ring, Mr. Billy Burke, the most mirth-provoking clown, appears in a masquerade representing Miss Btickney on horse-back, and intimates the different tricks that her well-trained horse performs in a.manner,;so ridiculous and. absurd that it keepa the audience in a continuous roar or laughter. As usual, the five performing elephants, under the guidance of their clever trainer, Adam Forepugh, Jr., are still the center of attractions, as, they execute ,at each performance yo many astonishing tricks, particularly the wonderful pyramid formed by the entire herd, with their trainer standing upon the top; also the two young ones playing at a game of “see-saw,” which creates the greatefc amusement. At the close of the performance a very excellent concert is given by the following artists: Miss Badie Connelly, Miss Mattie Bliss, aud Messrs, Gus Brooks Qlark, John Foster, j. Kernell,- W. Bryant, Phil. Gibbons and Dan Gibbons. t
