NOTORIOUSChief Kirkcaldy Captures a Notorious Housebreaker Who Operated in Brandon a Few Weeks AgoThe burglar who was operating In Brandon a few weeks ago has been caught. This capture which f was made in Winnipeg by chief Kirkcaldy assisted by a number of the Winnipeg police was a most important one. Robert Hamilton is the name given by the man arrested who has evidently been working alone. He is the same man who operatrd in Win-* nlpeg some time ago. Every effort has been made by him to evade the po’.ice, but without success. The story of hi$ arrest is an interesting cne, especially to Bran-residents who have suffered from his midnight visits.Chief Kirkcaldy went to Winnipeg on Friday with a prisoner who was wanted by the police of that city.While in the capital he determined tosearch the pawn shops \to see if hecould locate any of the goods stolenin Brandon. His first find was thefur eonts stolen from Mr. An guard,the lva. rsmii* man who was the first sufferer in Brandon. The gun lost by Senator Kirchhoffer was next located The goods had been pawned in the name of Albert Hamilton and a fictitious address given. The dean was located however in a boarding house and when he was known to {he at home a posse of detectives surrounded the house and captured him. At the time of his capture he was wearing jewelry and other articles that he had stolen.After his arrest he confessed to being the man wanted and gave many interesting details about his method of operating. The most of the goods stolen in Winnipeg were taken to Minneapolis and pawned. With the money thus obtained he took a trip to the coast and fwas on his return to Winnipeg wrhen he stepped off at Brandon and operated here. While he was in Brandon he boarded with Mrs. Jones, on the corner of 13th street and Pacific avenue.The prisoner is charged with housebreaking and has expressed hie intention of pleading guilty. The most of the goods stolen from Brandon will likely he locatedWhen arrested Hamilton had $MU in his pocket as fthe result of sales of stolen property.
