£Purchases Billiard Parlors—Ross Thornton, son of William A. Thornton, former township trustee and present member of the board of public works, and Charles Bowman, of Columbus, Ind., have purchased of George M. Timberlake the billiard parlors opposite the Terre Haute house, which the last named bought of Newton Cox just about a year ago. The price paid is said to have been $7,000. Timberlake came here from Bloomington, Ind., where he owns a fruit farm and other valuable property to which he will in the future give hisattention.Ross Thornton is one of the best known billiard and pool players in the state, and has competed a number of times with credit for the honors ofstate champion. Bowman is a graduate of Indiana University, where he met Thornton, who was then a student there. They expect to give a formal opening shortly at which a number of billiard experts from Chicago will give exhibitions.
