Commencement held forJames Stephens of Eustis, a business administration major, with an academic average of 3.98 of a possible 4.0, graduated at the top of the Spring Term class of Lake-Sumter Community College Tuesday, May 3.80 Lake-Sumter graduateStephens plans to attend Florida State University and major in accounting. He is winner of the Asbell Award, a check for $100, as the top graduate, and also the Wall Street Journal Award as the most outstanding business student.Eighty sophomores were awarded Associate degrees at Spring TermCommencement, which was held in the Fine Arts Center. This was the first graduation program in the new auditorium. Sixty-four of the 80 graduates were presented Associate in Arts degrees, and 17, Associate in Science degrees. Earl David Walker of Tavares received both AA and AS degrees.Dr. Paul P. Williams, college president, presided at the program*. In presenting the speaker, he pointed out that LaVera Yarish came to the college in 1963, one year after its opening, as an English instructor and became chairman of the Humanities Division in 1968. It is the largest of four divisions in the college. He paid high personal tribute to Mrs. Yarish as an instructor and administrator.Dr. Williams paid tribute to Louis Wirak, a charter member ofthe college faculty and present chairman of the Mathematics and Science Division, who is retiring at the end of this academic year.Associate in Arts degrees were awarded to the following students in the east Lake County area.EUSTIS: William Joseph Boyd, John Howard Brautcheck, Anna Welty Cameron, Kenneth W.
