Weirton Daily Times, Wednesday, May 10, 1972 —17Division Sold1 1By WestinghousePITTSBURGH (UPI) - West-inghouse Electric Corp. has announced it has agreed to sell part of its portable consumer products division to Scovillc' Manufacturing Co.The sale, which is subject to approval of the boards of directors of both firms, also hinges on Scovillc reaching a satisfactory labor agreement. Terms of thesale were not disclosed.If the sole is approved, Scovillc will take over from Westing housethe manufacture of toasters,frying pans, irons and coffee urns.Scovillc is a diversified producer of housewares, housingproducts, sewing ‘'notions,” apparel fasteners, metals and industrial and automotive parts. Itmanufactures electric housewares under the brand name of Hamilton Beach and Dominion.Westinghouse will continue to manufacture and market major appliances such as room air-conditioners, laundry equipment, ranges and refrigerators. The firm's home electronic* products division was not included in the deal.
