WEDNESDAY, MAY 10, 1967mmmOutdoors withHarold BrandKentuckyRacesKentucky Dam State Park 20 miles south of Paducah, Ky., and Barkley Dam one mile to the east offers much variety for fishermen and campers as we learned last weekend.Downpours of rain and high winds discouraged much fishing for Wade Gergen of Wood River and this writer but we managed to catch a few. We were most impressed over what a beautiful area it was. We caught our most fish downstream from Barkley Dam.On the way home we stopped at Lake of Egypt 10 miles south of Marion. 111. The four-year-old lake has 93 miles of shoreline and an average depth of 20 feet. The 2,300 acre lake is open to fishermen, skiers and boaters with no horsepower limit except in fishing areas, jA camping area offers facili-i Winners ties for tenters and trailers with electricity, flush toilets and showers at $2 a night The lake was created by the Southern Illinois Power Co.
