BABY KILLED LIKE A BAT.Pet llog Slain With Its Jaws Locked On an Infant's Throat.Chicago. III.* May 8-—Mrs. Michael Glick_, of 240 West Twelfth street, left her lo-daya’-old infant asleep on a bed to-day while she went out tc chat with a neighbor. Shecameback in a few minutes acrl fonnd thechild on the floor with a petdog’s teeth fastened in its throat.The dog refused to let go. althoughthe frantic mother kicked it and beat [it with a poker. The blows seemed to make the animal uglier, and it growled and shook the child's bejplpsg body.Finally Mr. Glick secured a heavier iron, snd pounded the dog on the head unt’l its skull was crushed, bat ev'c then the dog’s teeth were with difficulty pried open atid the baby’s throat released.A doctor was summoned at one**, but the child was dead. The dog had bit-t n the child on the oose ana cheek before seizing it by the throat. The animal was a family pet. and had been accustomed to children for years.
