We again wish to thar.k all the people who helped in any way to make our class play the success that we think it was. Our thanks go also to Mr. Piauti and Mr. Fry who so willingly helped us prepare the assembly for Thursday and Friday evening and helped on Saturday.We wish to call to your attention the senior activities of noxt week. On Sunday evening, May 12, Rev. Stanworth will deliver the Baccalaureate address to the senior class. On Monday evening, May 13, is Class night, which will provide you with an evening of fun and laughter. Next Thursday, May 15, Herb Plambeek of the WHO news staff, will be present to give the Commencement ad dress, after which the seniors will re-receive their diplomas. All activilie will take place in the high school auditorium and begin at 8:00 p. m. There will be no admission charged and the public is cordially invited to attend.The following articles, composed by Eveline Stanworth, Phyllis Bjorklund and Jean Mongan, my prove to be rather interesting to you.Cap and Gown By Eveline Stanworth The cap and gown, traditional from schools through universities, provides an inspiration to both students and guests on the night of graduation. For some, It means only a good start on education; for others, the end.As one sita in the audience, you can hardly realise that these dignified solemn students were the former terrors in old A. H. S.An air of sadnos* prevails as, to the gtrains of Pomp and Circumstance, the seniors march down the aisle two by two.In those last few weeks the seniors seemed to have aged almost, and especially on that night one can realise they have grown up.Casing on them, as they divide and go up either side of the stage we see the future teacher, nurse, doctor, fanner, serviceman and other professions. We think, too, of the great future ahead of them, perhaps a harder one now that the war is over.How we would like to see this class in ten years. What will each one be doing then?The program proceeds as planned but St is hard to keep our thoughts collected.It is a solemn service with a speaker lifting the thoughts of the audience! and students to higher things.We see among the audience evi-: dence of tears as each student,1 marches forward to receive hia diploma.The climax comes as the senior class arises and place their tassels on the opposite side to signify their graduation.Aftor the benediction the class marches down and forms a line across the front of the stage where they re-coivc the congratulations of parents, friends, teachers and classmates.What could be a more Inspiring service as they start on the voyage of life?Clan Night By Phyllis Bjorklund Class night ia the one activity most looked forward to by the seniors, the community and the other students In high school. It combines humor, seriousness and music into one delightful evening of entertainment.The valedictorian and salutatorian, the first and second highest students in the class, deliver their addresses. They are the two people with the highest class average for four years in high school.The class history takes us through our twclvo years of learning in Aurelia. from the first exciting dav ofThe graduating class show their musical ability by singing a few song* and always end with the tearful Auld Lang Syne.The Aurelia Graduating Class of 1?46 By Jean Mongan We are mighty proud of the class of ’46—but why not? That’s us! Thirty-five strong, we have long looked forward to this spring, but we've regretted the end too. We've had fun, haven’t we, with our work and our play?Let's take* a quick glance at the past and present of our students.Gene Clymens, Orville Gregg and John Letsche entered the class as freshmen In 2942. James Hench also entered in that year and has since been active in football. Others of this year’s football boys who joined the class in ’42 were.: Murlan Haightand LuVem Gustafson. LuVem was our freshman class president. Murlan was chosen king of football last fall. Both boys took part in the junior and senior class plays.Verlyn Dyslin entered good old A. H. S. as a freshman. Verlyn was a member of both the junior and senior play casts, and lakes an active part in baseball. IAFORTUNEEach of you has a goal, a mark at which you are shooting. Whether this goal be an extension of your studies, immediate earning capacity, or some other aim, we are with you; heart and soul, in tho hope that your goBi may be reached. We hope you will count us among your warmest friends.FLORY DRUGWe wish there were 6ome magic way to make all our wishes come true. If there were such a way the success and happiness of each of you boy and girl graduates would be fully assured.ARTHUR D. BRUCEreeeoeeeoeee*Roger Sturgeon entered the class as a sixth grader and now takes active part in football and track. Sherm Nelson, who was last year’s king of football, is an outstanding participant of football, basketball and track.Sherm has spent most of his 12 years hero in Aurelia. Last year’s vince-presldent, Harold Larson la a star in football, baseball and basketball and track. Taking part in all these, no wonder he wants to be a coach. Sherm and Harold nre both members of the senior band. -Sherm was a member of the play cast this year.Our able and distinguished class president, Molvern Anderson, holds this office for the second consecutive year. He is quite an actor, as anyone who saw the senior class play will testify. He was chosen as the senior boy most likely to succeed. Melvern has been active in football, basketball and baseball. He was also a member of the junior play cast.Other sportsmen In the class include Bill Glawe, Charlie Galvin, Joe Coombs, Dean Fassler, Don Elliott and Dale Sangwin. Joe is a member of senior band. And Don is a senior although a fortune teller mistook him for a freshman.Janice Akers joined us in fourth grade, went back to country school for eighth grade and rejoined us in '42. She is the local F. H. A. club vica-president and treasurer of the state club. She took part in the junior class play and was in declam two years. She was chosen queen of football last year und has been a cheerleader for three years.Mertic Bell also joined us aa a fourth grader from Sioux Rapids. In previous years, she ha* taken part various musical activities. She was a member of the play cast this year.Phyllis Bjorklund is the class news reporter. She is active in vocal music. Being a member of both play casts, three years of cheerleading, and queen’s attendant, have kept her busy.Queen of fooobal! this year was Ardys Deyloff. She tried cheerleading for the first time this year. She is active in musical activities, has held a class office, and was a member of the Junior play cast.Tcna Mae Fox and Jane Goettsehe were also freshman entries. Tena Mae was a nominee for queen’s attendant this year. Jane has led several committees, the most important one the head of magaxlnc sales in our junior year. Joyce Ressen came here from Spencer in her sophomore year.Lois Galvin is tho studious one of the class, but she finds time to take part in band, glee club and clarinet quartette. She was chosen as the senior girl most likely to succeed. Lois was also class treasurer last year, as well as a member of the junior play’ cast. This year she proved to be a very capable stage manager.Donna Nelson and Jane Lawniczak are both interested in vocal musk. Donna was a member of both play casts, senior bnnd, and is program chairman of the local F. H. A. Jane is publicity chairman of the F. H. A. and took part in both class plays.Joyce Hartwig and Verona Wogahn have been with us nearly 12 years. Both arc, or have been, active in music.The office of class secretary is being held for the second consecutive year by Jean Mongan, who is also treasurer this year. She is secretary-treasurer of the local F. H. A. and is active in band, senior band, clarinet quartette, and woodwind trio. She took part in declam for two years, and won first last year. Sho wa* a member of both play casts.Introducing Doria^ind Dolorls Nelson—twin drum majorettes of marching band. Are proud of them! The twins were elected queen’s attendants this year, but graciously withdrew in order to lead the band. In the past, they hsve been active in vocal as well as instrumental music.
