Pirates’ Second Successful Raid Occurred FridayRepeat Appearance In Musical Revue Brought Good ReturnsThe Pirates of the Lakes appeared Friday night in the Community Building for a repeat performance of the very successful musical revue which they had presented the previous week, as a benefit for the Lake County Medical Center, to purchase a new blood transfusion machine.In addition to the program of the week before, all numbers of which were repeated in splendid style, there was an additional number which was heartily encored, a duet, “La Golondrina,” by Mrs. William . Rice and Mrs. Barton Mumaw, with , violin and piano accompaniment by : Mr. Mumaw and Lt. Pearce. A spec-1 ial dance by Miss Katherine Schumacher and Mr. Wayne Richardson [ was a part of this number.5 Dr. A. M. Brodie announced the5 numbers and their continuity, and- to introduce the closing chorus read » a telegram brought in by one of r the Pirates (who had left the gath-* ering to loot the telegraph office),- warning the Mount Dora chief of 1 police to arrest the pirate band i which was reported as having an-r chored here. The troupe shang-e haied Dr. Brodie almost before the i. last part of the telegram was readI and forced him to join them in the : s grand finale.1 After the final curtain the cast a remained for a group picture which will no doubt be on exhibition in6 the show case of the Lamoreux Stu-s dio on Fifth avenue, which shows,* not only the performers, but pic-a tures the stage setting with excel-s- lent effect.1 Immediately after the picture was taken members of the band, to avoid f arrest, escaped to the Yacht Club* dock where they boarded the City 1 of Mount Dora for a starlight cruise r of the lakes, through the courtesyof Captain H. H. Wise, who piloted the boat. The trip was through lakes Dora and Beauclaire into 1 Lake Carlton, where the boat drifted £ while refreshments of sandwiches, c cake and coffee were enjoyed. The return trip was made leisurely, the e party landing soon after midnight.The two entertainments netted $81.05, a check for which amount has been sent to Lake County Medi-t-il Center. The blood transfusion machine will cost $75.00.Members of this Pirate band and their ladies, who presented one of the finest programs given here for many months, were from Mount Dora and*Eustis, and included Major Merriweather, Messrs. Barton Mumaw and Rush Ball, Mesdames Barton Mumaw, William Rice, Misses Schumacher and McFetridge, of Eustis, Lieut. Wm. Pearce. Messrs. Raymond Perkins. Frank Hall, Cliff White, Dan Dowd, Mesdames Florence Hanscom, Fletcher Crane, Paul Ault, and Misses Maxine Saltsman, Barbara HoDcraft and Shirley Shon-enberger, of Mount Dora. Besides taking part in the songs, Lieut. Pearce and Mrs. Hanscom played piano accompaniments for the several numbers, with Mr. Mumaw playing the violin, Lt. Perce, Dan Dowd and Mrs. Ault, guitar and Mrs. Ault accordion. Musical num-t bers by Mr. H. H. Wise, violin. Don-o aid Van Voorhis, clarionet and Mrs., Paul Ault, piano, were given be g fore the arrival of the Pirates.The stage setting was designed y by Mr. Charles Johnson, of Cassia, y and assisting Lieut. Pearce and Mr. Johnson in making it were Mr. Gal-0 lie and Major Merriweather, of Eus-tis, Messrs. H. H. and Curtis Wiseq and W. A. Vincent and his manual training boys, of Mount Dora, with a e number of the ladies making the e sail and arranging other details. e Rollins College furnished the back drop. Wise Boat Works the frame of the ship, Rebhaum and Crane and others “makings” for the scenery.Lieutenant Pearce, general chairman for the revue, deserves the t highest commendation for the ex-1 cellence of the production, while he feels that its success was due■t to the hearty cooperation he received from all those who had a part in its presentation.
