'AD Dimond became known as a man who never threw anything away.The judgment is borne out by his estate, a melange of ears, machinery, guns and personal belong-ings to stagger the imagination!^ and delight an antique lover's ^heart. ^A onetime city engineer at Par- * sons, Dimond is said to have built 11 the first water plant constructed * there, and he was once a St. Paul bank director. He died April 1, 16 11 days short of his 97th birthday. s He was one of six children, none;* of whom married. All are dead ex- c cept one sister. Myrtle. Five years * younger than Dimond. she is a f patient in an Erie rest home. jl The family home stands in a' secluded wooded area about sev- l en miles south of here, on theU banks of a small, spring-fed creek. 1 Native lumber was used in the* house and outbuildings, two rail- 1 road boxcars that have been added t in more recent times lending h } note of incongruity to the setting, f j “You’re going back a hundred 1years. Buchanan was nam-M ed guardian for Dimond when he lt;became ill two years ago and is also guardian for the sister.I I lt;j Everywhere at the farm is a profusion of the years accumulation. Aged tractors, steam engines, boilers and farm machinery dot' the grounds. Sheds reveal vintage cars, and a glance overhead turns! up a cradle scythe Glassware and old books intermingle in the house j with a tallow lamp and a powder j horn, the powder still inside. j How much there is of what, isn’t known, nor are the values. An inventory is being made, after which the entire estate will be Isold at auction.J Curiosity seekers have becometroublesome since Dimond s death.I Buchanan said, and no one is being admitted to the farm without (permission. Some of the items, in*! eluding Dimond’s guns, have been taken to St Paul for safekeeping.I Among the guns are cap and ball weapons and a muzzle-loading shotgun. A few of the other articles being kept at Paul are twoviolins, a scale set for measuring and weighing powder, an 8 by id bellows camera and an antique wishing well| Date of the auction will not bt set until after the inventory is completed.
