Betty ventures into the yard only for a deep dip in the family pool. When the Parks clan moved into the house 11 years ago their French provincial furniture was lost in the immense rooms, most of which have 12-foot ceilings. The gas shortage has caused two of my favorite bands to try a new twist: Bus-pooling. The New Riders of the Purple Sage and Commander Cody are sharing Cody’s scenicruiser bus, “Honeysuckle Rose,” on tour. For better or worse, Jeff Baxter of Steely Dan has disclosed that the band gives each potential song idea 10 minutes of brainstorming before going ahead with it or throwing it out. Fast workers. James Taylor begins a 22-city tour in May. Alice Cooper’s first movie will be out soon, including footage from the “Billion Dollar Babies” tour.
