Horsman to lecture at Carthage ThursdayReginald Horsman, one of the leading young scholars in the field of American history, will present a lecture at Carthage College’s Wartburg Auditorium, Thursday, at 4 p.m.Dr. Horsman’s topic will be “The Origins of Manifest Destiny.”Since 1958, Dr. Horsman has been a member of the faculty of the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. He has served as associate dean of letters and science and is currently professor of history at UWM. In 1961 he won the outstanding teacher award at the university. In 1966 he won a Guggenheim Fellowship and spent a year abroad doing research in England.Prof. Horsman’s lecture is sponsored by the History Department and the Burckhardt Society at Carthage College. The lecture is free and open to the general public and directed atthe non-specialist.
