While this was a refreshing booe for the audience, it did not account wholly for the enthusiastic response The fact is that the vocal ensemble and several soloists did an exceptionally fine job Moreover, the staging, costuming were well done, and the whole of it was livened withshowmanship.To single out performances isdifficult if not hazardous. foramong the singers were several pros ’ such as Marilyn Newsom, Mel Ivey and Joyce Howard, not to mention the old maestro himself, Mr Schantz. Ann Keller, soprano, proved a delightful artist, for she has one of the clearest, sweetest and most proficient voices to he associated In the department. Lt. Tom McDaniel brightened the session with a solo in a vocal novelty and in * pianoduet w.th Jack BfHllIlMr. Hendrix, as usual, exhibited a delicate touch at the piano as soloist and as accompanist One gets the feeling he could sing to Hendrix’ accompanimentThe forepart of the program was done in formal attire and was started with zest by a Hops Potpourri by Hendrix Then came a cavalcade of unforgettable tunes by Richard Rodgers Cole Porter, Sigmund Romberg, Meredith Willson, Leonard Bernstein. Fulton Company of Lubbock, which has the contract on the pipeline from Lake J. B Thomas to Silver in northern Coke County. was low with a proposal for laying cast iron pipe under the riverBruce submitted a base of $29,-000 for the crossing with driven pile and Fulton an offer of $30,-000 For the cast iron crossing, Bruce bid $$$,000 and Fulton $28 HIE. V. Spence, general manager, said that a recommendation on letting of the contract would likelybe made today.
