ALA Gives to Fine Arts Camp 1TheAlaskaAssociation hasonce againdonated $1,000 to the SoutheastAlaska Regional Fine Arts Camp, which is sponsored annually by the Southeast Alaska Regional Arts Council. The Fine ArtsLoggers But additional support is neededto make thscamp a reality — and it is through the generous private donations ofTheatre will be in residence toDramanationally known faculty all withCamp is held each year the last two weeks of July on the SheldonJackson College campus in Sitka Junior and senior high school students from throughout Southeast Alaska live on thecampus and take classes in theareas of dance, drama, literary arts, music and the visual artsfrom professional artists skilled in the various art areas.t € Funding for the Fine Artsalt;D3Camp comes from a multitude of sources, including municipalfunds from the3matchingSoutheast communities whichsend students to Camp, a 100(DQ3lt;/percent match of these municipalfunds by a National Endowmentfor the Arts Challenge Grant, andby the tuition charged to studentsCO(most of which only covers the student’s room and board costs).organizations and individuals that the budget can finally be balanced. Thus the Alaskabusinesses, considerable teaching experienceLoggers Association contribution helps make the Camp possible.This year’s Regional Fine Arts Camp is being held July 18-30, and application forms have beenmailed to all school systems in Southeastern (including the logging camps).
