Canal Fulton'sseason openerslated June 1CANAL FULTON - Van Johnson will open the summer season at the Canal Fulton Arena in the hit comedy, “There s A Girl In My Soup” on Tuesday, June 1.After the Johnson comedy which will run two weeks, the Arena will present William Shatner, captain of the starship Enterprise on TV’s “Star Trek,” in “Period of Adjustment,” one of Tennessee Williams brighter works, concerning that “period of adjustment” in any new marriage, sometimes painful to those involved but hilarious to outsiders. The Shatner comedy will open June 15.Bob Crane of TV’s Hogan’s Heroes will follow on June 22 in “Beginner’s Luck,” a new comedy written especially for Mr. Crane. The Crane vehicle is playing Canal Fulton and several other summer theatres prior to a possible Broadway opening in the Fall.Gizelle MacKenzie will return to the Arena in “Hello Dolly on Aug 17. Other musicals scheduled include Fiddler on the Roof and “George M,” with stars for these to be announced later.The gourmet buffet served on the dining terrace before the shows will be continued and expanded this year. The Arena has obtained a liquor license and drinks will be served along with the buffet which proved so popular last season.
