FREEDOMVERNA T. JENKINSCorrespondentOne of Star Valey’s pioneers,Luannie Hokanson Edwards, wife of John Edwards, passed away last Friday in Salt Lake City, at the age of 77. Mr. and Mrs. Edwards were staying with their son, La Val, and his family when Mrs. Edwards became ill. She was admitted tothe LDS Hospital Thursday evening and passed away Friday morning, The funeral was held Monday at one o’clock in the Freedom Ward Chapel, conducted by Bp. Lowell Jenkins, and burial was in the Freedom Cemetery, Many friends and relatives called at the home and attended the funeral as a symbol of the love felt for this dear little lady, who will be greatly missed.Mrs. Annie Warren and Mr.and Mrs Delbert Warren learned Friday of the tragic accident which took the life of little Russell Warren, son of Elmo and Verla Warren of Smithfield, Utah. The boy, who would have been five years old this month, was riding on a silage wagon which his father was pulling with a tractor, when he fell off and crushed his head under the wheel. The funeral was held Tuesday in the Thayne Ward Chapel, and burial was in the Thayne Cemetery.Mr. and Mrs. Lyle Jenkins’ eighth son was born Friday at the local hospital. The Jenkinses have two daughters also.Mrs. Orlin Hokanson went to Ferron, Utah last Saturday to help out at the home of her daughter, Verla, and hgr husband, Jim Crook, who had a new baby daughter born Friday.Miss Susan Underlie danced two numbers in the review 'Vpril 21 in Idaho Falls at the Betty Anderson School ofDance.Mrs. Ruth Haderlie went to Logan April 22 and 23 to the ;irls day activities at USU with ler daughter, Joan.Mrs, Melvin Robinson was iperated on last Tuesday at the ocal hospital for hernia and re-urned home Sunday feelingluite well.Mr. and Mrs. Farrell Jenkins ind family went to Kamas, Jtah Saturday and Sunday on i business and pleasure trip. Mrs. Alice Jenkins went with them and visited with Mr. and Mrs. Vernal Jenkins.Mrs. Wilford Jenkins came home last Tuesday from Montpelier and brought her granddaughter, Laurie Stephens, with her.Eighteen Freedom people and nine out of town people attend-t'd the temple session in Idaho Falls last Friday with Mr. and Mrs. Rudy Rigler and their family. Afterwards, the group met at Tautphaus Park for a lunch served by Mrs. Ernest Brog and her family. The Rtgler family went to Utah to visit and to attend to some business over theweekend. ^Mr. and Mrs. Winslow Weber, their children of Provo, and Winslow’s mother, Mrs. Hazel Weber of Murray, Utah spent last weekend visiting in Free-dam. The grown ups went to the Idaho Falls Temple Friday with the Riglers.home last week were Rulon's mother, Mrs, LaVern Hoopes, George Osmond and his four sons Allen, Wayne, Merrill and Jay, all of Ogden, and Capt. DeVere Baker and his uncle, Elmer Baker, of California. These folks stayed with the Osmonds while they were in the valley giving the lecture of the raft Lehi. The four Osmond brothers sang at priesthood mc»eting in Afton Wednesday night and were on Capt. Bakers program Thursday night also.Juel Haderlie, Bryce Jenkins, Claine Petersen, and Richard Osmond were home from USU at Logan for the weekend,Mr. and Mrs. Roy Brog and children of Logan were visitors at the Reed Luthi home. Mr. and Mrs. Brog went to the temple Friday with the Rudy Rigler family.Attending the missionary farewell testimonial at Sugar City. Idaho Sunday evening in honor of David Hamilton wereMr. and Mrs. Evan Jenkins, their daughter JoLynn, and Mrs. Joan Weber. David is the third son of Mr. and Mrs. Melvin Hamilton to serve a mission for the LDS Church, and is going to the West German Mission.Sunday visitors at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Erwin Moser were Mr. and Mrs. Charles O’Keefe of Osmond and Mr. and Mrs. Mathew Alleman of Afton.Mr. and Mrs. Art Spackman have moved to town in the house previously occupied by the Wendell Jenkins family andthe Jenkinses have moved into Spackmans’ home. Mr. and Mrs. Spackman went to Grace, Idaho Saturday and Sunday to visit Mr, and Mrs. Rex Spackman.Mr. and Mrs. Max Barnes ofSalt Lake City and Mrs. StellaBarnes of Tremonton, visited with the Grant Clark family Sunday and Monday and attended the funeral for Mrs. John Edwards.The program far sacrament meeting Sunday evening was furnished by the Leonard Robinson family. Talks were given by Beth, Beulah and Leonard. Rocky gave a poem, Linda played a piano solo, and Kip and Jan sang two songs, accompanied by Linda.During the evening of April 21 a scout court of honor was held at the ward hall under the direction of Scoutmaster Wendell Jenkins. Nine boys of the guide patrol passed their tenderfoot requirements: Val Dee Erickson, Gary Lancaster, Eu-Gene McWherter, Kedrick Robinson, Kelly Rainey, Eldon Weber, Glade Jenkins, Lawrence Weber, and David Petersen.
