Russ MorganTo Appear atFrosh FrolicVirginia Simms and Dance Team ListedFor EntertainmentRuss Morgan, creator of “Music in the Morgan Manner”, Virginia Simms, sweet singer of songs, and the dance team of Emory and Newman will appear at the Frosh Frolic Saturday night in John Jay, Theodore de Bary ’41, chairman of the entertainment committee, announced yesterday.Music for the dance will be provided by Hal Marley’s Orchestra. Morgan is scheduled to make a personal appearance without his band.Morgan, who started out by arranging music for other orchestras, including that of John Phillip Sousa’s Concert Band, rose to heights of his own as the master of the trombone and the piano. At present he is featured on a cigarette program over national networks.Morgan has just completed a two weeks’ engagement at the Paramount Theatre where he received enthusiastic applause for his performance.Simms Is Kyser VocalistIncluded in the cast of entertainers is Virginia Simms, vocalist with Kay Kyser’s band currently appearing at the Paramount. Miss Simms, better known as “Ginny”, has created an enviable reputation for herself in the West and in the East, with the rhythms of Kay Kyser.Also on the list of performers will be the dance team of Patricia Emory and Stockton Newman. Newman, a member of the Sophomore Class, was judged the leading waltzer in the country in a recent competition. Miss Emory is a senior at Barnard;They were recently acclaimed by many critics for an exhibition dance at the Ambassador Hotel. Emory and Newman have been top-billed performers in the Rainbow Room and several of the better known night clubs in the city.Joe Levinson, chairman of the Ticket Committee has requested that all members of his committee and all committee chairmen meet in 718 John Jay tomorrow at 12:15 P.M.
