Declamatory Contest Also Goesto Same School. !iThe annual LaHarpe Invitational j .Track and Field Meet was held last: Friday afternoon at the Tri-County | Fair grounds. The following schools participated in the meet, Media, La Harpe, Biggsville and Lomax. Owing to the bad weather this spring, it was really about the first good practice the boys had had this year. The track was in dandy shape but none of the former records were beaten. The 220 yd dash record was tied by C. Vaughn of Media, time 24 3-5 seconds. The former record was also 24 3-5 seconds, made by Everly of Prairie City high school in1925.C. Vaughn of Media was the star athlete of the day, winning first in the 50 yd, 100 yd and 220 yd dashes, thus making him high point winner in the meet with 15 points.E. Lefort was the local high point winner with 10 pts, taking first in the Shot put and Javelin; Mac Campbell next with 6 1-3 pts, M. Lefler 6 pts, J. Quivey 5 points, L. Duncan 3 pts, Diffenbaugh 2 pts,G. Lefler 1 pt and Patterson 1 pt. The locals showed up very strong in the field events. The official starter for the meet was Homer Berges, a former LaHarpe high school Track star and who is now attending the Western Teachers’ College at Macomb, graduating from the four year course inT 1 - -
